Rodan Sketch Cards by NickShev Rodan Sketch Cards by NickShev
The kaiju in the line of sketch cards was Rodan in his 4 variations 1956, 1964, 1993 and 2004. I guess I'm going chronologically with these kaiju right now so maybe Mothra will be next .... we will see. I'm still having fun doing these and still liking the results. Thanks to everyone who commented on the Anguirus card.

Each card is a 3.5" x 5" piece of coloraid paper and are drawn with microns, a brush pen, and a white colored pencil.

I think the Rodan from the 60's is the offspring of the first 2 Rodans.

I always liked the Hesei Rodan the best, probably because I grew up watching Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II all the time as a kid, and the fact that this Rodan was featured in Godzilla: Save The Earth and Godzilla: Unleashed.

'56 Rodan will always be my favorite. Just the sheer anger and emotion he gives off will never be eclipsed. Great Job on all of them, especially 2004.

Nice evolution here. These cards are great, everyone of them.

There should've been more Rodan solo movies than Mothra. I didn't understand the appeal of a bug over a majestic mutated pterosaur. Toho needs to study the market audience.

I agree. While don't 100% hate Mothra, I can never really understand why she was WAY more popular than Rodan. She was just a silly puppet while Rodan was both a man in suit and a puppet aka best of both.

every one loves Rodan and he should've got more movies, but i think they went with mothra to get a bigger female audience. But rodan should  have got more movies, and maybe ever get a reboot, like Godzilla.

I think I prefer the 1956 version or maybe the Final Wars version. I like how Rodan looks in Godzilla Unleashed. He is like a much larger version of Fire Rodan.

It is hands down the best. The suit looked great and menacing, the miniature work was top notch, and Rodan's theme is everlasting! Definitely the golden age of Toho.

Once you watch the original movie, the 60's Rodan just looks that much worse.

Very very nice again :) The drawings and the poses themselves are fantastic. Attention to minor details in the suit is again top notice. Each pic looks like their era. The only thing that really kinda stops making me like this more than the Angilas (which is my fav so far), I think it is from the fact of all the red. Like i adore the red's on the first 2 incarnations but the other reds just seems so pure. Just intense. I think that is what really made each pic in the Angilas stand out from the different, yet complimentary colors for each card. These (while i say are fantastic), it just seems so much intense red that they kinda blend together and it prevents them from standing out from each other. I do love the effort and detail you do, and the pieces are amazing. You do incredible work. A Godzilla fan could not ask for anything better :)

Thanks for the kind words there. I see what you mean about the red. I was just trying to keep the colors of the cards somewhat close to the color of each kaiju. I guess I could have changed it up and did one on blue or something but I think the reds reflect the variations or the suit colors.

I see what you mean and now that I have actually sat and looked at this more, and had time for it to let it soak in, I can understand what you were trying. I mean the classics are more earthy tones (which i'm a freaking sucker for tasteful earth tone colors, usually bright neon colors really just throw me for a loop). And the more currents are much more brighter colors for the more....flare that was given to the monsters. When i look at them in those 2 pairs, the piece makes a hella lot more sense to me. It is a really good piece though and I already are starting to warm up to it much much more.

As for the Mothra.......man.......that's going to be interesting. I mean even if you just do, just the adults for the G series and the original film that would be...61, 64, 92, 01, 03, and 04.............eeeeesh. And that not even considering if you going to include the Mothra trilogy in that. >_< That is going to be one big ass piece.
